🎧Free Audio Tools — Convert, Clean, Cut and Transcribe
Convert M4A, WAV and OPUS, remove background noise, cut audio and transcribe speech to text — all in your browser, nothing uploaded.
Audio files are the most personal thing most people own: recorded meetings, interviews, lectures, voice memos dictated in the car, messages from family. They are also the files most commonly dropped into random converter sites, where they sit on someone else's storage under a privacy policy nobody reads.
These tools do the same jobs — format conversion, noise removal, cutting, transcription — with your files processed on your own machine. Two of them are worth knowing about even if you came for something else: the noise remover uses the professional FFT denoiser that cleans hiss, fans and electrical hum out of a recording, and the transcriber runs OpenAI's Whisper locally, turning an hour of audio into searchable text with no per-minute billing. Running one after the other — clean first, then transcribe — noticeably improves accuracy.
Questions
- Which audio formats are supported?
- MP3, M4A (iPhone voice memos), WAV, OGG, OPUS (WhatsApp voice notes), AAC, FLAC, WMA and AMR — plus the audio track inside any video file.
- What noise can actually be removed?
- Steady noise: hiss, fans, air conditioning, electrical hum and room rumble. Background conversations and intermittent sounds cannot be removed without damaging the voice, and we say so rather than overselling.
- Is transcription really free?
- Yes. The speech model downloads once to your browser and runs on your device, so there is no server cost to charge for and no per-minute limit. The practical limits are files up to 8 GB and your device's memory.
