🎬Free Video Tools That Run in Your Browser
Compress, trim, convert and transcribe video entirely in your browser. No upload, no watermark, no signup.
Video is the worst possible file type to send to an online converter. A single phone clip can be hundreds of megabytes, so you wait through a long upload, wait again in someone's processing queue, then download the result — and your footage now lives on a server you know nothing about. For a birthday video that is annoying. For client work, a product launch or anything under NDA, it is a real problem.
Every tool below runs inside your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly — the same engine professional video software is built on. Your file never leaves your device, there is no queue, no watermark and no account. The trade-off is honest and stated on every page: your own computer does the work, so heavy jobs take a few minutes instead of being farmed out to a server.
Questions
- Is there a file-size limit?
- The practical ceiling is your device memory, typically a couple of gigabytes for compressing or converting. Transcription accepts files up to 8 GB because it reads the file from disk. Since nothing is uploaded, we have no bandwidth cost to ration.
- Why do some tools take minutes?
- Because your computer is doing the encoding instead of a server farm. Trimming is nearly instant (it copies the bytes), while compressing and transcribing are heavy jobs that depend on your hardware.
- Can these download videos from YouTube or TikTok?
- No. Browsers cannot read other sites’ video streams and those platforms’ terms forbid it. These tools work with video files you already have on your device.
