A number plate is the one part of a car photo that ties it to a person. Post it on a marketplace, a forum or a dashcam group and the plate can be looked up and matched to your street. This page is set up for exactly that fix: drag a box over the plate, pick pixelation or a solid black bar, and download a copy in which the plate is gone.

Gone is the operative word. The covered pixels are replaced in the file you download, not hidden behind a layer that a viewer can lift off. For a plate, the black bar is the stronger choice: a plate is short, high-contrast text in a known font, and a coarse pixelation of it can sometimes be reconstructed, whereas a solid rectangle carries no information. Pixelation looks more natural for a listing photo; if looks matter, make the blocks large.

Check the whole frame before you share. Plates appear in places you did not aim at: the car behind, a reflection in a shop window, the vehicle in the mirror. You can draw as many boxes as you need in one image. The editing is done on your device and the photo is not uploaded, so the unblurred version never exists anywhere but your own screen.
