converted on your device — contracts and documents are never uploaded

ℹ️ Honest scope: text, headings, bold/italic, images (at their original resolution), page size and page breaks are rebuilt into an editable document. Tables and multi-column layouts come out as plain paragraphs, and charts drawn as vector shapes are not carried over yet — no converter rebuilds those perfectly, and the ones that claim to are guessing.

The documents people most need to edit are the ones they should least send to a stranger: a contract you want to redline, an NDA that arrived as a PDF, a medical report, an employee's file, a term sheet, a court filing. Most online converters handle these by asking you to upload them, then promising in their terms to delete them "after a short period" — a promise you cannot verify, made by a company whose copy of your document now lives in a jurisdiction you did not choose.

This converter removes the question instead of answering it. Your PDF is opened and converted inside your browser; no copy is created anywhere else, so there is nothing to delete, no retention period, no processor agreement to sign and no breach that could ever include your file. That is also the honest limit of the claim: we cannot make your document safer than your own computer — if your laptop is shared or compromised, that is where the risk is, not here.

Two details matter for sensitive work. First, the Word file we create carries no metadata from the PDF or from us — no author, company, creation tool or revision history — so nothing leaks through document properties. Second, the conversion keeps the text, headings, bold and italic, page breaks and embedded images (a scanned signature, a stamp, a photo-ID page), so what you redline is what was sent. Tables and multi-column layouts come out as plain paragraphs, and charts drawn as vector shapes are not carried over yet.

Frequently asked questions

Is this GDPR or HIPAA compliant?
Compliance is a property of your process, not of a tool, so we will not stamp a badge on this page. What we can state precisely: no data is transmitted to us or to anyone else during the conversion, so there is no third-party processor, no data transfer and no storage to account for. That removes the step most policies worry about; the rest stays with you.
Can my IT or legal team verify the claim?
Yes, without trusting us: load the page, open the browser's developer tools on the Network tab, convert a document and observe that no request carries the file. Or disconnect from the network after the page loads and convert — it still works. Both checks take a minute.
Does the Word file contain hidden information from the PDF?
No. The .docx is built from scratch with only the visible text and images; the PDF's author, creation tool, dates and hidden metadata are not copied. One caveat: text that was visually covered in the PDF (a black box drawn over a line) is still text and will be extracted — redact properly before converting if that matters.
What about scanned confidential documents?
A scan is a picture of text, so the converter will tell you no selectable text was found. Use our Image to Text (OCR) tool, which reads scans on your device as well — nothing is uploaded there either.
