AI runs on your device — photo never uploaded · first use downloads the model
A transparent PNG is the raw material of design work. It is the logo that drops onto a dark header without a white box around it, the product that sits on a coloured banner, the portrait that becomes a sticker, the cut-out that slides into a presentation or a collage. Here an AI model finds the subject, removes everything behind it, and gives you a PNG whose background is genuinely empty, shown as the usual grey-and-white checkerboard in the preview.
The model runs in your browser. On your first visit it is downloaded once, with a progress bar, and from then on it works on your device, at full resolution and without a watermark. Nothing is uploaded, so a product shot for an unreleased launch is safe to process here.
What to expect at the edges is worth stating plainly. A person, pet or object against a background of a different colour comes out clean. Wispy hair against a busy scene, glass, smoke, a white mug on a white table or a chain-link fence are hard for every model of this kind, and you may see a rough or slightly soft edge there. Downloading the model on a phone is slower than on a computer, and the first run takes longer than the ones after it.

Frequently asked questions
- Why is my downloaded image transparent?
- The background is removed and saved as a PNG with an alpha channel, so it shows through whatever you place it on.
- Does it work on hair and fine edges?
- The AI handles most edges well, though very fine hair can be imperfect — it's still far better than manual cutouts, and it's free.
- Can I put the cut-out on a new background afterwards?
- Yes. The PNG has a transparent alpha channel, so any editor, slide tool or design app lets you place it over a colour, a photo or a pattern. For a plain white background, the base Remove Background tool has that option directly.
- Why does the transparent area show as white in some apps?
- Some viewers, including a few email previews and older image apps, flatten transparency onto white when displaying a PNG. The file is still transparent; open it in a browser or a design tool to confirm the checkerboard.
