Every vertical video platform settled on the same canvas: 1080 pixels wide by 1920 tall, a 9:16 portrait frame that fills a phone screen edge to edge. Instagram Stories and Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat and Facebook Stories all use it, and so do most phone wallpapers. A still image at this size can be posted directly as a story slide, used as the cover for a Reel or Short, or dropped into a video editor as a full-bleed background.
This page forces the output to exactly 1080 by 1920, which is what you want when the platform would otherwise add bars or crop the picture for you. The catch is that forcing a size does not change the shape of what is in the frame: a photo shot in portrait at 3:4, the usual phone ratio, is stretched noticeably taller, and a landscape photo is badly distorted. The clean workflow is to crop to 9:16 first, keeping faces and text well inside the middle of the frame, and then resize here. Leave the top and bottom roughly 250 pixels free, since usernames, captions and buttons sit over those areas in most apps. Pictures narrower than 1080 pixels will be enlarged and lose some crispness; the resize happens on your device without any upload.
