processed on your device — never uploaded

Most of the time the reason to convert something to JPG is that whatever you are uploading it to will not take anything else. An image saved from a website arrives as WebP or AVIF and the job application form rejects it. A scanner produces BMP. A government portal, a marketplace, a CMS from 2012: JPG is the format every one of them understands, and it is small enough to send anywhere.

This page converts any image your browser can display into a JPG. In practice that covers PNG, WebP, AVIF and BMP; the one common exception is HEIC from an iPhone, which browsers cannot open and which has its own HEIC to JPG tool on this site. The work happens in your browser, so a scan of your passport or a signed contract is never sent anywhere.

Two things change in the conversion. JPG has no transparency, so a logo or cut-out with a clear background gets a solid white one; keep PNG or WebP if the background must stay transparent. And JPG is lossy: a screenshot full of small text comes out much smaller but with faint fuzz around the letters at close zoom. For a photo that is irrelevant; for a pixel-perfect UI capture, stay with PNG.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert to JPG?
Any image your browser can open — including PNG, WebP, AVIF and BMP. The output is always a standard JPG.
Why convert to JPG?
JPG is the most universally accepted image format — ideal when a site or app rejects newer formats, and when you want a small file.
Can I convert an iPhone HEIC photo here?
Not on this page. Browsers cannot decode HEIC, so it needs the dedicated HEIC to JPG tool on this site, which handles that format on your device in the same way. Everything else a browser opens works here.
Will a PNG screenshot get smaller as a JPG?
Usually a lot smaller, because PNG stores every pixel exactly and JPG does not. The cost is slight softening around small text. For sharing it is fine; for a pixel-exact record keep the PNG.
