⬇️ One-time download: 104 MB (Accurate model 73 MB + 31 MB audio engine, shared with the video tools) — only the first time: it stays saved in your browser, so next time it starts right away. (Translating or switching model needs its own file; a browser can clear this cache if storage runs very low.) Processing takes about 4-8 min per 10 minutes of audio on a typical laptop.
What exactly is downloaded — and is it safe?
  • • The speech model is OpenAI's Whisper, open source, converted to run in browsers. The audio engine is FFmpeg, the open-source tool behind most video software.
  • • They come from Hugging Face and unpkg — public repositories used by researchers and developers worldwide, not from us.
  • • They are not programs. Nothing is installed, no permission is asked, and your browser keeps them in its own cache exactly like it keeps a website's images.
  • • They can't read your files or touch anything outside this page. Remove them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
  • • Your audio never goes the other way: this site has no server receiving files.

transcribed on your device by OpenAI's Whisper — your recording is not uploaded

ℹ️ Use a recording on your device that you own or have permission to process. This tool cannot fetch YouTube or social video links. Start with a short clip. Larger models can improve accuracy but require more memory and download data. Processing time varies by device, model and recording length. Always review the result.

Czech without diacritics is a guessing game: byt and být, rad and řád, ceska and česká are different words, and a transcript that drops the háčky and čárky is unusable for anything official. The model writes them in, along with ů, ě and the rest, and produces punctuated sentences. This page opens with Czech preselected, which also keeps the automatic detector from calling a short clip Slovak or Polish.

Transcription runs in your browser, so a recorded přednáška, a client call or a podcast is never uploaded, and there is no minute limit. Copy the text, save it as TXT, or export SRT or VTT subtitles for a video. Czech is a smaller language in the model's training than English or German, so use Accurate or Best for anything beyond a clear, close-miked voice; the larger model downloads once and is cached when possible.

Where to expect errors: proper names, place names, figures and abbreviations, and fast colloquial speech or strong Moravian dialect, where accuracy falls. Mixed Czech and English can be inconsistent because the model follows the selected language. For Slovak audio, choose Slovak in the language list explicitly rather than letting this page's default apply. Review the draft against the recording before it goes to a client or an official.

Frequently asked questions

Does it confuse Czech with Slovak?
Not when Czech is selected, which this page does automatically. If your audio is Slovak, pick it from the language list instead of relying on detection.
Are háčky and čárky included?
Yes. The output is proper written Czech with diacritics and punctuation.
How long can the recording be?
There is no limit. An hour of audio takes roughly 10 to 30 minutes on a laptop, depending on the model you choose.
Which model gives the best Czech transcript?
Best, followed by Accurate. The smallest model makes noticeably more diacritic and word-boundary mistakes in Czech, so unless the recording is short and clean, the larger download pays for itself in editing time.
Can I make Czech subtitles for a video with this?
Yes. Choose the SRT or VTT export and you get timed Czech captions with diacritics intact, ready for YouTube, a video editor or a web player. Check the timing and line breaks before publishing.

🔒 Private mode (the default): your recording never leaves your device. Instant mode is optional, you switch it on yourself, and it sends the audio to the browser's speech service.
