The Australian Passport Office is strict about photos, and most applications still need printed ones. The accepted size runs from 35 by 45 up to 40 by 50 millimetres; this page produces the 35 by 45 format. The face must be between 32 and 36 millimetres from chin to crown, centred, with a neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open, and a plain light background with no shadows. Since July 2018 glasses are not allowed at all, and the photo must be less than six months old.
