Hong Kong is one of the few places whose standard identity photo is not 35 by 45 millimetres. The HKSAR passport and the Hong Kong identity card both use a 40 by 50 millimetre picture, so a photo made for another country's passport is the wrong shape and fails the size check. The remaining rules are familiar: colour photo, plain white or light background, full face looking straight at the camera, neutral expression, no head covering unless religious.
